NORTH SHORE, OAHU, HAWAII SET FOR THE FOURTH AND FINAL STOP OF THE 2007 NIXON WTA

NORTH SHORE, OAHU, HAWAII SET FOR THE FOURTH AND FINAL STOP OF THE 2007 NIXON WTA

The world’s best surfers are set to converge on the North Shore of Oahu for the fourth and final stop of the Nixon WTA during the Vans Triple Crown, taking place November 12 - December 20, 2007.

Unlike the previous legs of the WTA, which awarded winners based on performance in a single event, this final stop raises the stakes by pitting surfers against each other in all three Vans Triple Crown stops: the Reef Hawaiian Pro, the O’Neill World Cup of Surfing, and the Billabong Pipeline Masters. The overall winner of the Vans Triple Crown will be awarded the WTA Triple Crown title.

Says Nixon Team Manager, Brandon Lillard, “I can't think of a better event and venue for the grand finale of the 2007 WTA. The Vans Triple Crown is one of the most challenging events in all of surfing and the winner and watch will reflect the event’s elite nature perfectly.”

The winner of the WTA Triple Crown will receive a one-of-a-kind, diamond encrusted Nixon 51-30. The 51-30 is one of Nixon’s most popular waterman’s watches featuring a high and low tide subdial, 300 meter water resistancy, and rotating bezel with countdown timer, making it the obvious choice for the final WTA winner. Limited to only one in the world, the WTA Triple Crown 51-30 will feature over 2.5 carats of diamonds and will include one sapphire and two ruby baguette-cut gems to represent the state flag of Hawaii.

ABOUT THE WTA:

The Nixon WTA is a winner-take-all event awarding a custom, handcrafted Nixon valued at $10,000 at four Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Tour stops during the months of May, July, October and December. The four different Nixon WTA challenges include: heaviest wave at Teahupoo, Tahiti, the highest heat score at J-Bay, South Africa, the longest tube in Mundaka, Spain, and the overall Vans Triple Crown winner on the North Shore of Oahu.
